Rueddog,
What's up...
We gotta try a couple things first to eliminate some options, and they very well may work. I am not totally sure of what you and Symantec have tried so let's try some stuff.
If you have Norton from 2004, 2005, 2006 go to this link in your INTERNET EXPLORE web browser, you cannot use firefox. And run through the steps provided.
http://service1.syma...=&osv=&osv_lvl=
If you have 2003 or earlier version of norton try this link:
http://service1.syma...ion=1#_Section1
Let us know how this worked.
After you have tried this successfully or unsuccesfully do this...
Please do this.
Download 'Hijack This!'. http://www.spywarein.../HijackThis.exe
Save it in a convenient permanent folder such as C:\HJT\ or your desktop, double click HijackThis.exe, and hit "Scan".
When the scan is finished, the "Scan" button will change into a "Save Log" button.
Press that, save the log, Ctrl-A to Select All, and copy its contents here.
Along with that log post this log for us...
Open HijackThis, click Config, click Misc Tools
Click "Open Uninstall Manager"
Click "Save List" (generates uninstall_list.txt)
Click Save, copy and paste the results in your next post.
Thanks for your patience Ruedog
Regards,

Nothing will work. I keep getting the same error message every time I try and download any type of repair tool. Any ideas?

Ruedog,
What happened when you tried to click that link that I provided in the above instructions. Internet Explorer should have taken you to a Symantec site and then you should have, click a yellow "run this icon". After this there should have been a alert in Internet Explorer asking you if you would like to install an Active X program.
What steps did you make it to in those previous instructions?
Also I need to get these logs from you:
Please do this.
Download 'Hijack This!'. http://www.spywarein.../HijackThis.exe
Save it in a convenient permanent folder such as C:\HJT\ or your desktop, double click HijackThis.exe, and hit "Scan".
When the scan is finished, the "Scan" button will change into a "Save Log" button.
Press that, save the log, Ctrl-A to Select All, and copy its contents here.
Along with that log post this log for us...
Open HijackThis, click Config, click Misc Tools
Click "Open Uninstall Manager"
Click "Save List" (generates uninstall_list.txt)
Click Save, copy and paste the results in your next post.
Then do this for me it will tell us where all the norton family registry entries are:
Please download Registry Search
Unzip it to a convenient location.
Doubleclick Registry Search.
In the first box line enter norton
In the second box line enter symantec
Then click 'ok'.
In several minutes Notepad will be opened with text in it (the file will be saved in the program's folder as well). Save the Notepad file to your desktop.
***
I need that log and I need the uninstall log from HJT, I also need a HJT log, and tell me how far you got on those instructions from my previous post.
Regards,
LTP
