First let me say I will be thankful to anyone who is able to help me. Here are my system specifications. Toshiba Laptop; Satellite A135-S4527; MS Windows Vista Home Premium; 2 GB of RAM. I tried to download and unzip and install WinRAR from what I thought was a legit web sight. After I did this I continuously received a pop up box that said "comanglia!! comanglia!! comanglia!! comanglia!!" I shutdown the windows and started a google search for this, I used Firefox. Then I tried Internet Explorer and I got directed to a page that said my computer had been attacked by Spyware or a Virus. In the top middle of the page it said "Intervalhehehe". Defender didn't seem to find anything. Trend Microvirus found a Trojan.cg and quarantined it. I have searched for 'explore.exe' and found nothing. I searched for a 'host' file and found one in system32/etc/drivers. It had one line it. Malwarebytes found something like 'backdoor.bot' and I chose to fix this problem. I just opened IE and again I'm getting that webpage that says my computer has been attacked by spyware or a virus. But this time 'Intervalhehehe' was not there. I think I've done everything except have the hijackthis log analyzed. Also, now that I come to think about this, i didn't do any of these steps in safe mode. Should I boot into safe mode and start all over? Or if I fix these files in my log will I be ok? I'm posting my log file below just in cast and in advance I thank anyone who cares to give me a hand and I do appreciate it.
