I tried to access the internet in safe mode with networking, but because I'm using a wireless usb key it wouldn't let me launch the software; it kept asking me to install the wireless receiver (internet is from modem to wireless router to receiver in a usb port) and would detect it but it wouldn't change the window popping up everytime I tried opening the program.
I'm not sure if we have any network cable, I'll have to ask my flatmate tomorrow if he has one. If so I can try it again by hooking up to the router that way.
If there's a way to access the net via my normal wireless connection I'd be grateful to hear it.

If you can connect using a cable then we would need to look at the wireless end.

Analysis
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Crash dump directory: C:\WINDOWS\Minidump
Crash dumps are enabled on your computer.
No valid crash dumps have been found on your computer
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Conclusion
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Crash dumps are enabled and no valid crash dumps have been found on your computer. In case your computer does experience sudden reboots it is likely these are caused by malfunctioning hardware, power failure or a thermal issue. To troubleshoot a thermal issue, check the temperature using your BIOS setup program, check for dust in CPU and motherboard fans and if your computer is portable make sure it's located on a hard surface. Otherwise it's suggested you contact the support department of the manufacturer of your system or test your system with a memory test utility for further investigation.
Restarted my computer in Safe Mode with Networking. Visited all my routine websites without error except for (again) facebook which presented me with a new Error message:

If you can connect using a cable then we would need to look at the wireless end.
I haven't managed to locate a cable at home but we have another pc and a laptop that use the same router with no problems. Is there another step I can try without testing the cable?

Thanks for letting us know and I am sorry the resolution was not the correction of the problem but the replacement of the system.
I'm glad you did in the end manage to get a working system and hope that everything works out for you in the end. Please let us know how everything goes for you. Thank you for allowing me to assist you and for your patience during all the testing.

The replacement of the system was to do with buying a new game (Battlefield: Bad Company 2) and being able to run it and other newer games. To my knowledge (from what I've looked up in google) noone seems to have a definitive answer to the error... just one of those things I guess. Thanks again

i am having the same problem with chrome. the websites i'm trying to open wouldn't open but give a blank page with FF and explorer.
The websites i am trying to access are:
www.farmville.com <- this gives message "Error 324 (net::ERR_EMPTY_RESPONSE): Unknown error."
facebook games like farmville, restaurant city <-- The webpage at http://fb-0.treasure...d57d3d65d692843 might be temporarily down or it may have moved permanently to a new web address.
i can accept the requests from these games and can also respond to them but they don't load.
(thought mafia wars on face book works just fine)
Have just installed safari. It says "Safari can’t open the page “http://www.farmville.com/” because the server where this page is located isn’t responding."
I was able to access everything and then got a Java script update message and then nothing.
have reinstalled flash, java and shockwave
i do not have any proxy settings and use a wireless connection which is dodge at times but everything is working fine except for these pages
also i am travelling so don't have my windows CDs so can't follow ur instructions
any suggestions?

This topic is horrible. Please delete it.
"I fixed it myself" in this situation means that the person sat back, while the problem fixed itself. It saddens me that anyone would go through all of that trouble (and possibly more) because of an empty response from one or two websites. So sad, that I had to register for an account just so that maybe ONE less person will hate computers after wasting so much time on a wild goose while sitting behind one.
In short, do what the message says - try reloading later
