just bought the sims2, it's no copy or anything, and when i tried to install it, i got this message:
"A problem occured when trying to transfer the file 'D:\Support\es\Leeme.txt' from the media. Do you want to retry to copy the file, or cancel the installation?"
i can only hit "cancel", so the game is not installed. i took a quick look at the additional cd, it turns out that this "leeme.txt" is instructions in spanish. i use windows xp in greek, if that helps to solve the problem. i think it's a problem with the game itself, not with my computer. i'm looking forward to your advice. thank you very much in advance!

Hello noble_savage and welcome to G2G!

It sounds like the DVD may be faulty or that the drive is having problems reading the DVD.
You could try copying the files to your hard drive and install the game from there.

1 - Insert the DVD into the DVD-rom drive.
2 - Exit the startup menu when it comes up.
3 - Double click My Computer, then right click on the DVD-rom drive with the game DVD in it and select Explore.
4 - Hold the CTRL key and then hit A. That should select all the folders and files.
5 - Then hold CTRL and hit C. This will not look like it does much, but it's preparing to copy the files.
6 - Close that folder and go to your desktop. Right click anywhere BUT on an icon, and Select New, then Folder. Name the folder Sims2 DVD.
7 - Then double-click that folder, and hit CTRL and V. This will begin copying the files from the DVD.
8 - Once the files are copied, remove the disc from the drive.
9 - Double-click on the Setup icon in the folder.
10 - You may delete the Sims2 DVD folder once the installation is complete.

so, i deleted the Leeme.txt, but then there was the exact problem with the same type of readme file, it was the swedish version this time. so, i deleted it as well and the the installation was completed. the fact that both files' titles contained characteristic symbols of the correspondent language (e.g. an accent on the first 'e' of leeme) was -imho- a big part of the problem. i'm writing all this in case someone faces the same difficulties.

no matter how it sounds, i feel very excited to play my first game! thanks again ZEUS_GB!
