Trying open ports on my router

Hi, i am trying to open a port on my router. I know this is what i need to do after looking into it. However i have no idea where to start doing this.
Any advice would be greatly appreciate.
It is a sweex wired router.

this site helps much in the area of forwarding ports http://www.portforward.com/
they have general instructions also a section on routers broken down by brand and model including several sweex models

Hi mike.

If you have the option to create a "DMZ Host" on your router settings, set this "host" as your PC. This should open all ports for you, also, be aware you will need a firewall, and your router firewall will be disabled for you.
