Hi mitch12334534,

Welcome to Geeks to Go.

It appears that some malware is interfering with the scan. Can you please rename the HijackThis file to NewScan, use that file from now on although I will still refer to that file as HijackThis.

Create an Uninstall list
  • Open HijackThis, click Config, click Misc Tools
  • Click "Open Uninstall Manager"
  • Click "Save List" (generates uninstall_list.txt)
  • Click Save, copy and paste the results in your next post along with a fresh HijackThis log.
Thanks.

Hi mitch12334534,

Lets try another way of obtaining an Uninstall list.

It is important that you follow these instructions exactly as I have listed. Failure to adhere to this could result in damage to your Registry Settings and the possibility of not being able to boot your computer or other unexpected events occurring.

Open Notepad, and copy the contents of the code box below into a new text file. Save it to your Root Drive ( C:\ ) as Export1.bat. For the "save as type" choose all files.

Reg QUERY "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall" >> C:\ShowData.txt
start notepad C:\Showdata.txt

Navigate to the file that you just made C:\Export1.bat and double click it to execute the file.

A window will open and close quickly, this is normal. Notepad will then open with the contents of of the above instruction. Please paste the contents of that Notepad window in your next post.

Did you rename the HijackThis file as I said in my last post? I need you to do this so that I can see some entries of an infection that you have on your system.

Please rename the HijackThis file and post a fresh HijackThis log together with the contents of the C:\Showdata.txt file.

Thanks.

Hi mitch12334534,

Please download VundoFix.exe to your desktop
  • Double-click VundoFix.exe to run it.
  • Click the Scan for Vundo button.
  • Once it's done scanning, click the Remove Vundo button.
  • You will receive a prompt asking if you want to remove the files, click YES
  • Once you click yes, your desktop will go blank as it starts removing Vundo.
  • When completed, it will prompt that it will reboot your computer, click OK.
  • Please post the contents of C:\vundofix.txt and a new HiJackThis log in a reply to this thread.
Note: It is possible that VundoFix encountered a file it could not remove. In this case, VundoFix will run on reboot, simply follow the above instructions starting from "Click the Scan for Vundo button" when VundoFix appears upon rebooting.

Thanks.

Hi mitch12334534,

Not much to be seen there, so lets look a little bet deeper.

You will need to print out a copy of these instructions, or save them to NotePad and put a shortcut to the file on the desktop so that you can refer to while you complete this procedure.

The use of Peer to Peer programs are usual channels for infections. Would you kindly remove LimeWire from your computer or refrain from using these types of programs whilst we are cleaning your system.
You can read more about this here.

I would suggest removing ErrorSafe Additional Feature because of it's collection of personal information and "disclosure to potential advertisers and/or business partners", you can read more about this here.

Please go to Start then Control Panel then Add/Remove Programs and remove the following (if present):

ErrorSafe Additional Feature

Please note any other programs that you dont recognize in that list in your next response

Download WindPFind

Extract WinPFind.zip to your c:\ folder.

Boot into Safe Mode: You can do thid by restarting your computer and as soon as it starts booting up again continuously tap F8. A menu should come up where you will be given the option to enter Safe Mode.

Then open c:\WinPFind and double-click on WinPFind.exe.
When the program is open, click on the Start Scan button to start scanning your computer. Be patient as this scan may take a while.
When it is done, it will show a log and tell you the scan is completed. Reboot your computer back to normal mode and and post the contents of c:\WinPFind\WinPFind.txt as a reply to this topic.

C:\Program Files\NewScan\HijackThis.exe

My apologies if I didn't explain the renaming of HijackThis very well. :whistling:

The HijackThis.exe is the filename and that is the part that I would like you to rename to NewScan.exe

Could you please rename this and include a fresh HijackThis log in your next reply along with the WinPFind log.

Thanks

I have done as you have asked, thanks for all the help. Here is the WinpFind log and the Hijack this log.

WARNING: not all files found by this scanner are bad. Consult with a knowledgable person before proceeding.

If you see a message in the titlebar saying "Not responding..." you can ignore it. Windows sometimes displays this message due to the high volume of disk I/O. As long as the hard disk light is flashing, the program is still working properly.

Hi mitch12334534,

Jotti File Submission:
  • Please go to Jotti's malware scan
  • Copy and paste the following file path into the "File to upload & scan"box on the top of the page:
    • C:\WINDOWS\inf\winiis.dll
  • Click on the submit button
  • Please post the results in your next reply.
Could you please do the same for this file:

C:\WINDOWS\Config\vssdrv.dll

Please download SmitfraudFix (by S!Ri)
Extract the content (a folder named SmitfraudFix) to your Desktop.

Open the SmitfraudFix folder and double-click smitfraudfix.cmd
Select option #1 - Search by typing 1 and press "Enter"; a text file will appear, which lists infected files (if present).
Please copy/paste the content of that report into your next reply.

Note : process.exe is detected by some antivirus programs (AntiVir, Dr.Web, Kaspersky) as a "RiskTool"; it is not a virus, but a program used to stop system processes. Antivirus programs cannot distinguish between "good" and "malicious" use of such programs, therefore they may alert the user.

Thanks.

Hi mitch12334534,

There seems to be something hiding that is not allowing some of these tools to do what they are supposed to.

We must disable the Real-Time Protection feature of Windows Defender for it may interfere with the changes we need to make.

To disable Real-Time Protection:
  • Go to "Tools" | "General Settings"
  • Scroll down to "Real-time protection options"
  • Uncheck "Turn on real-time protection (recommended)"
  • Remember to reactivate this feature when we have finished all our work.
You will need to print out a copy of these instructions, or save them to NotePad and put a shortcut to the file on the desktop so that you can refer to while you complete this procedure.

Please re-open HiJackThis and scan. Check the boxes next to all the entries listed below.

O2 - BHO: (no name) - {871A54C1-1EB3-48bd-A879-5DBA4EF16BE6} - C:\WINDOWS\system32\irrkejlm.dll
O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [SpywareBot] C:\Program Files\SpywareBot\SpywareBot.exe -boot

Now close all windows other than HiJackThis (including any browser windows), then click Fix Checked.

Reboot into safe mode, you can do this by restarting your computer and as soon as it starts booting up again continuously tap F8. A menu should come up where you will be given the option to enter Safe Mode.

Please go to Start then Control Panel then Add/Remove Programs and remove the following (if present):

SpywareBot

Please note any other programs that you dont recognize in that list in your next response

Be sure that you can view hidden files and folders.
  • Click Start.
  • Open My Computer.
  • Select the Tools menu and click Folder Options.
  • Select the View Tab.
  • Under the Hidden files and folders heading select Show hidden files and folders.
  • Uncheck the Hide protected operating system files (recommended) option.
  • Click Yes to confirm.
  • Click OK.
Using Windows Explorer (to get there right-click your Start button and go to "Explore"), please delete these folders (if present):

C:\Program Files\SpywareBot

Using Windows Explorer (to get there right-click your Start button and go to "Explore"), please delete these files (if present):

C:\DOCUME~1\Steve\LOCALS~1\Temp\27.exe\27.exe
C:\WINDOWS\Remove_spyware.exe

Reboot into Normal Mode.

Lets see what Blacklight can find.

Download and Save Blacklight to your desktop (choose "I ACCEPT" then click "DOWNLOAD" on the website).

Double-click blbeta.exe then accept the agreement, click > "Scan" then > "Next".

You'll see a list of all items found. There will also be a log on your desktop with the name "fsbl.xxxxxxxxxxxxxx.log" (the xxxxxxxxxxxxxx stand for numbers).

Copy and paste this log in your next reply along with a fresh HijackThis log. Don't choose the rename option yet! I want to see the log first, because legitimate items can also be present there, such as "wbemtest.exe"

Thanks.

Done as you have asked. Syware bot was not present in the add/remove programs list and there was no file c:/Program Files/SpywareBot and there was no file of C:\DOCUME~1\Steve\LOCALS~1\Temp\27.exe\27.exe
There was no infected files for Blacklight. Here is the blacklight log and hijack this log.

Not sure what u mean about don't choose rename option yet?

Hi mitch12334534,

Looks like we will have to do this a bit differently.

Go here to upload a suspicious file for analysis.
  • Enter your username from this forum
  • Copy and paste the link to this thread
  • Browse for this filename: C:\WINDOWS\system32\irrkejlm.dll
  • In the comments, please mention that I asked you to upload this file
  • Click on Send File
Please download ATF Cleaner by Atribune.
This program is for XP and Windows 2000 only
  • Double-click ATF-Cleaner.exe to run the program.
  • Under Main choose: Select All
  • Click the Empty Selected button.
If you use Firefox browserClick Firefox at the top and choose: Select All
Click the Empty Selected button.
NOTE: If you would like to keep your saved passwords, please click No at the prompt.
If you use Opera browserClick Opera at the top and choose: Select All
Click the Empty Selected button.
NOTE: If you would like to keep your saved passwords, please click No at the prompt.
Click Exit on the Main menu to close the program.

Please download the Killbox by Option^Explicit.

Note: In the event you already have Killbox, this is a new version that I need you to download.
  • Save it to your desktop.
  • Please double-click Killbox.exe to run it.
  • Select: Delete on Reboot then Click on the All Files button.
  • Please copy the file paths below to the clipboard by highlighting ALL of them and pressing CTRL + C (or, after highlighting, right-click and choose copy):

    C:\Program Files\SpywareBot\SpywareBot.exe
    C:\WINDOWS\Remove_spyware.exe
  • Return to Killbox, go to the File menu, and choose Paste from Clipboard.
  • Click the red-and-white Delete File button. Click Yes at the Delete on Reboot prompt. Click OK at any PendingFileRenameOperations prompt (and please let me know if you receive this message!).
If your computer does not restart automatically, please restart it manually.

If you receive a message such as: "Component 'MsComCtl.ocx' or one of its dependencies not correctly registered: a file is missing or invalid." when trying to run Killbox, click here to download and run missingfilesetup.exe. Then try Killbox again.

Once you have restarted your computer:

Double-click VundoFix.exe that you downloaded previously to run it again.
  • Click the Scan for Vundo button.
  • Once it's done scanning,Right Click inside the listbox (white box) and click add more files
  • Copy&Paste the 2 entries below into the top 2 boxes
    • C:\WINDOWS\system32\irrkejlm.dll
    • C:\WINDOWS\system32\mljekrri.*
  • Click Add Files and Click Close Window
  • Click the Remove Vundo button.
  • You will receive a prompt asking if you want to remove the files, click YES
  • Once you click yes, your desktop will go blank as it starts removing Vundo.
  • When completed, it will prompt that it will reboot your computer, click OK.
  • Please post the contents of C:\vundofix.txt and a new HiJackThis log.
Note: It is possible that VundoFix encountered a file it could not remove.

In this case, VundoFix will run on reboot, allow the computer to reboot and VundoFix to load.

DO NOT click "Scan for Vundo" again.

Just add the very same files as before and Click Remove Vundo.

Thanks.
