I bought a brand new system a few months back and I only tried today to save / back up some of my files on a brand new DVD blank disk.
When I highlighted the folder to be copied to disk and selected the d: drive (CD/DVD drive) I get a message reading
"Windows encountered a problem when trying to copy this folder. What do you want windows to do?"
Retry Skip Cancel
I then tried to copy the folder to a CD blank disc and it worked!
OK..I have check that I do have a CD DVD RW Drive and when I click on the properties I see that the device is enabled and working properly.
My PC & CD DVD specs. are as follows:-
Windows XP Home edition.
CD DVD Drive Model Number (displayed within properties) TSSTcorp CD / DVDW SH-S182M
Location 0(0) is also displayed within properties.......
.........................whereas my floppy disc drive A: and hard C: both have Location:0 (primary ATA channel).
Do I have to configure something in my PC settings for saving to DVDs?
Do I have to go into setup and configure BIOS?
Do I have a damaged DVD Writer?
As always, many thanks in advance, misterc.
