The computer is running quite well. The only thing amiss is - when my wife first logs in she gets a popup that says "Windows cannot find C:\WINDOWS\system32\jkhhf.exe..." followed by another popup that says "Could not run C:\WINDOWS\system32\jkhhf.exe as specified in the registry..." I don't get this when I log in. So the file is gone, but something is looking for it. Is there an easy way to get at this?

OK, we've found the culprit in the registry that is trying to load that file.

Disconnect from the Internet and disable your anti-virus and firewall programs. Be sure to remember to re-start them before going on-line again.

Open the WinPFind3u folder and double-click on WinPFind3U.exe to start the program. Copy and paste the information in the box below into the pane where it says "Paste fix here" and then click the Run Fix button. The fix should only take a very short time and then you will be asked if you want to reboot. Choose Yes.

Post the latest .log file from the WinPFind3u folder (it will have a name in the format mmddyyyy_hhmmss.log) back here along with a new HijackThis log please.

I see SpySweeper is running so it likely blocked the registry change we were trying to make. Please shut it down so it's not running and then disable it and then run the same WinpFind3u fix again and then post a new HijackThis log.

To disable SpySweeper:

Open it click >Options over to the left then >program options >Uncheck "load at windows startup".
Over to the left click "shields" and uncheck all there.
Uncheck "home page shield".
Uncheck "automatically restore default without notification".

I uninstalled Spysweeper to get it out of the way but the windows still came up after reboot. I tried to check anything else that may be blocking it. Is some remnant of McAfee still running, or TeaTimer? Although I think they're all "turned off", I could uninstall more antispyware programs; most are present due to my attempt to wage war before contacting the geeks.

Good. The only warning I get is McAfee wanting me to reinstall and we've already established that I'll have to uninstall when we're done here.

We've held off accessing online bank sites since this stuff started. Should I be worried about online passwords and the like, given the malware that we've removed recently?

I would recommend changing all passwords for accessing web sites or any sensitive data such as on-line banking.


Now you should turn system restore off to flush out all previous system restore points, then turn it back on and create a new restore point:

To turn off system restore, on the Desktop, right click on My Computer and click on Properties.
Click the System Restore tab.
Check Turn off System Restore.
Click Apply and then click OK.

Restart your computer, turn System Restore back on and create a restore point.

To create a new restore point, click on Start – All Programs – Accessories – System Tools and then select System Restore.

In the System Restore wizard, select Create a restore point and click the Next button.

Type a name for your new restore point then click on Create.


I also recommend downloading SPYWAREBLASTER & SPYWAREGUARD for added protection.


Check this out for info on how to tighten your security settings and some good free tools to help prevent this from happening again.


Go to Start - Run and type in cleanmgr and click OK.
Let it scan your system for files to remove.
Make sure Temporary Files, Temporary Internet Files, and Recycle Bin are the only things checked.
Press OK to remove them.
