i first placed this under the games section off the site, as this problem is limited to games. probaly a wrong choice cause now i have taken a look at my various background programs running, i see that there are more than one who are not supposed to be there. (as stated above)

the problem im having is a weird state off gameplay: the best way i can explain this is that a certain element of a certain game doesnt work properly (by going really slow), while other parts off the game do properly work. (best way i could explain this is by a clock ticking normally, and some guy walking over the screen in slowmotion. Thats no fun, really)

i think im having problems with a botnet, because off having so many malware files which start with system32. i could be wrong off course

here's my hijack log:

Hello masterb7,

Welcome to the Malware forum.

excuse any bad grammar, im actually dutch

Your doing very well. Probably better than a lot of native English speakers.

Firstly

Please go to Start > Run > Add or Remove Programs and uninstall Malware Destructor. This is rogue security software. When it is executed and a scan is run, it scans the computer and displays exaggerated reports of errors on the computer.

Note: If your attempt to uninstall it doesn't work don't worry we will get it another way.

Now

Please download Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware from Here or Here

Double Click mbam-setup.exe to install the application.
  • Make sure a checkmark is placed next to Update Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware and Launch Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware, then click Finish.
  • If an update is found, it will download and install the latest version.
  • Once the program has loaded, select "Perform Quick Scan", then click Scan.
  • The scan may take some time to finish,so please be patient.
  • When the scan is complete, click OK, then Show Results to view the results.
  • Make sure that everything is checked, and click Remove Selected.
  • When disinfection is completed, a log will open in Notepad and you may be prompted to Restart.(See Extra Note)
  • The log is automatically saved by MBAM and can be viewed by clicking the Logs tab in MBAM.
  • Copy&Paste the entire report in your next reply.
Extra Note:
If MBAM encounters a file that is difficult to remove, you will be presented with 1 of 2 prompts, click OK to either and let MBAM proceed with the disinfection process,if asked to restart the computer, please do so immediatly.

Next

  • Please download random's system information tool (RSIT) by random/random from here.
  • It is important that is saved to your desktop.
  • Double click on RSIT.exe to run RSIT.
  • Click Continue at the disclaimer screen.
  • Once it has finished, two logs will open. Please post the contents of both log.txt (<<will be maximized) and info.txt (<<will be minimized)
So when you return please post
  • MBAM report
  • the two RSIT logs - log.txt and info.txt
Note: It is likely the reports will not fit on one post. It might be necessary to break the logs up to get them on the forum. Just use as many posts as you need, that's fine. :)

thanks for the post. about malwaredestructor, i couldnt find it anywhere. i went to start, run but there wasnt an add or remove programs button (there was a button called browse, if translated litterally, brought me to a screen looking like a simple browse your computer. if its that what you intended, could you tell me the exact spot where malwaredestructor is located so i can destroy it? i also went to software, no malwaredestructor either)

and about malwarebytes: i had it alreaddy installed on my computer, and did a scan, do i have to reinstall it, and run the scan over or is this unneccesary?

Hello masterb7,

Don't worry about malwaredestructor, we will get it another way. :)

As far as Malwarebytes is concerned just update and run the one you have on your machine. Post the report back here.

You are running two anti-virus programs; Avast and Computer Associates virus software.

Running two or more real-time anti-virus, anti-spyware and firewall monitors at the same time can cause a conflict. That conflict can result in slow computer performance, error messages, crashes of the programs or other types of failure. You will very likely end up with little or no protection.

Please uninstall either of Avast or CA ISafe.

Now

You have had Norton Antivirus on your computer at some stage. It has not been properly removed.

Go here Norton Removal Tool to remove left over bits of the Norton AntiVirus Program. Choose the link for the version you had and then download and run the removal progam.

Next

Please re-open HiJackThis and scan. Check the boxes next to all the entries listed below.

O2 - BHO: (no name) - {02478D38-C3F9-4efb-9B51-7695ECA05670} - (no file)
O2 - BHO: AskBar BHO - {201f27d4-3704-41d6-89c1-aa35e39143ed} - C:\Program Files\AskBarDis\bar\bin\askBar.dll
O2 - BHO: (no name) - {7E853D72-626A-48EC-A868-BA8D5E23E045} - (no file)
O3 - Toolbar: Ask Toolbar - {3041d03e-fd4b-44e0-b742-2d9b88305f98} - C:\Program Files\AskBarDis\bar\bin\askBar.dll
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [MalwareDestructor] C:\Program Files\MalwareDestructor\MalwareDestructor.exe /s

Now close all windows other than HiJackThis, then click Fix Checked. Close HiJackThis.

-----Step 2-----

Please download the OTMoveIt3 by OldTimer.
  • Save it to your desktop.
  • Please double-click OTMoveIt3.exe to run it. (Note: If you are running on Vista, right-click on the file and choose Run As Administrator).
  • Copy the lines in the codebox below to the clipboard by highlighting ALL of them and pressing CTRL + C (or, after highlighting, right-click and choose Copy):

    :processes
    explorer.exe
    :files
    C:\Program Files\AskBarDis
    C:\Program Files\MalwareDestructor
    :commands
    [purity]
    [emptytemp]
    [start explorer]
    [Reboot]
  • Return to OTMoveIt3, right click in the "Paste Instructions for Items to be Moved" window (under the yellow bar) and choose Paste.
  • Click the red Moveit! button.
  • Copy everything in the Results window (under the green bar) to the clipboard by highlighting ALL of them and pressing CTRL + C (or, after highlighting, right-click and choose copy), and paste it in your next reply.
  • Close OTMoveIt3
Note: If a file or folder cannot be moved immediately you may be asked to reboot the machine to finish the move process. If you are asked to reboot the machine choose Yes. In this case, after the reboot, open Notepad (Start->All Programs->Accessories->Notepad), click File->Open, in the File Name box enter *.log and press the Enter key, navigate to the C:\_OTMoveIt\MovedFiles folder, and open the newest .log file present, and copy/paste the contents of that document back here in your next post.

When you return please post
  • OTMoveIt3 log
  • a new HijackThis log

note: a do you want to restart window appeared at OTmoveit3, but i accidently pressed no. so i quickly paste the contents off the message here, and manually restart, if theres any problem with this please tell me.

and i couldnt help but noticing the ask bar: it appeared mysteriously just lately. And i know the next thing im gonna say will sound a bit strange, but its the strange truth: my mom is at blame. She constantly receives programs through hotmail, and honestly, i dont trust it one bit. Im not saying shes the fault off this mess, i have made more than one mistake in the past, but could it have something to do with her opening all those files? if so i (hopefully) can convince her that opening those files is bad for the computer. (it are mostly powerpoint movies, if i am correct.)

i removed avast antivirus, and norton removal tool worked perfectly.

EDIT: im going to bed now, its getting late. i'll be back tomorrow. Thanks for the great help till now :)

1. Please download The Avenger by Swandog46 to your Desktop.
  • Right click on the Avenger.zip folder and select "Extract All..."
  • Follow the prompts and extract the avenger folder to your desktop
2. Copy all the text contained in the code box below to your Clipboard by highlighting it and pressing (Ctrl+C):

Folders to delete:
C:\Program Files\MalwareDestructor

Note: the above code was created specifically for this user. If you are not this user, do NOT follow these directions as they could damage the workings of your system.

3. Now, open the avenger folder and start The Avenger program by clicking on its icon.
  • Right click on the window under Input script here:, and select Paste.
  • You can also click on this window and press (Ctrl+V) to paste the contents of the clipboard.
  • Click on Execute
  • Answer "Yes" twice when prompted.
4. The Avenger will automatically do the following:
  • It will Restart your computer. ( In cases where the code to execute contains "Drivers to Delete", The Avenger will actually restart your system twice.)
  • On reboot, it will briefly open a black command window on your desktop, this is normal.
  • After the restart, it creates a log file that should open with the results of Avenger’s actions. This log file will be located at C:\avenger.txt
  • The Avenger will also have backed up all the files, etc., that you asked it to delete, and will have zipped them and moved the zip archives to C:\avenger\backup.zip.
5. Please copy/paste the content of c:\avenger.txt into your reply along with a fresh Hijackthis log .

Will you do something for me masterb7?

It's a long shot but you never know. :)

Firstly

* Click Start
* Open My Computer.
* Select the Tools menu and click Folder Options.
* Select the View tab.
* Under the Hidden files and folders heading select Show hidden files and folders.
* Uncheck the Hide protected operating system files (recommended) option.
* Uncheck the Hide extensions for known file types option.
* Click Yes to confirm.
* Click OK.

Next

Boot into Safe Mode:

1) Restart your computer
2) After hearing your computer beep once during startup, but before the Windows icon appears, tap F8 continually.
3) Instead of Windows loading as normal, a menu should appear
4) Select the first option, to run Windows in Safe Mode.

Using Windows Explorer (to get there right-click your Start button and go to "Explore"), navigate to and delete this folder (if present):

C:\Program Files\MalwareDestructor

After that let me know if you found the folder and deleted it. If you did please post a new HijackThis log as well.

i couldn't find malwaredestructor. this might have something to do with both having a different kind of computer, as just as that one time i told you there wasnt an add or remove button on run. i did uncheck both those options, but i needed a little search for it. Could it have something to do with this?

also, when booting in safe mode, the start was really slow, a black screen appeared, and almost everything got enlarged for some reason. this could be normal off course

heres an new hijack log:

Hello masterb7,

When you say you have a different computer what do you mean? Your HijackThis log shows you are running with Windows XP. What might be different apart from maybe you have it configured differently?

Lets try this one.

Download OTScanIt.exe to your Desktop and double-click on it to extract the files. It will create a folder named OTScanIt on your desktop.
  • Open the OTScanIt folder and double-click on OTScanIt.exe to start the program.
  • Under Additional Scans check the boxes beside Reg - App Paths, Reg - Bot Check, Reg - Desktop Components, Reg - Disabled MS Config Items, Reg Mountpoints2, File - Additional Folder Scans, and File - Purity Scan.
  • Under Drivers change it to Non-Microsoft.
  • Under Files Created Within and Files Modified Within change it to 90 days.
  • Under Rootkit Search change it to Yes
  • Check the box at the top-left beside Scan All Users
  • Now click the Run Scan button on the toolbar.
  • When the scan is complete Notepad will open with the report file loaded in it.
  • Click the Format menu and make sure that Wordwrap is not checked. If it is then click on it to uncheck it.
Use the Add Reply button and post the information back here in an attachment. I will review it when it comes in. The last line is < End of Report >, so make sure that is the last line in the attached report.

Make sure you attach the report in your reply. If it is too big to upload, then zip the text file and upload it that way

To attach a file, do the following:

* Click Add Reply
* Under the reply panel is the Attachments Editor
* Browse to find the attachment file you want to upload, highlight the file by clicking once on it, then click the green Upload button
* Once it has uploaded, click the Manage Current Attachments drop down box
* On the left you will see a icon like a letter with a little green cross on it. Please click on that and it should upload to the thread.
