And that was while connected to a Empire: Total War server?

Still worth a try I bet -- hoping that the ports are the same across all of the servers.
Make sure your PC is set to a Static IP. You will need to know what the Static IP is! If you do not know it for sure, go to Start > Run and type
cmd then click OK. In the
Command Prompt that appears, type
ipconfig /all and press Enter. You need the number under
IP Address for the network card that connects you to the internet.
Then go to the Netgear router management page. Click Port Forwarding / Port Triggering and you should see this

Click
Add Custom ServiceUnder Service Name put
TotalWar1Under Service Type select TCP
Under Starting Port put
27015Under Ending Port put
27015Under Server IP Address put
the Static IP address for your computer I mentioned earlierClick Apply.
We need to do this again for a second port.
Click
Add Custom ServiceUnder Service Name put
TotalWar2Under Service Type select TCP
Under Starting Port put
49181Under Ending Port put
49181Under Server IP Address put
the Static IP address for your computer I mentioned earlierClick Apply.
Finally, after all is applied, we'll do this for good measure. Unplug your
modem, then unplug the
router. Now, wait about
15 seconds. After about that much time,
reconnect the modem and
reconnect the router. Wait about 30 seconds to 1 minute for everything to settle, then attempt a successful connection to an Empire: Total War server
through your router. If this connection does NOT work through your firewall (should you have one installed/activated), deactivate the firewall and attempt connection.
Reply with the results of everything! If it does not work with the firewall ON but it does work with the firewall OFF, please tell me
what firewall you have installed.I'm hardly out of ideas --
we'll get this resolved.
