For example, if I am listening to music or playing a video, my laptop will freeze (Video stops moving, can't move cursor, everything's freezes) and if I had any sound playing at all it goes like, for example say a song lyric was..."Dark", it would go "D-d-d-d-d-ark"

It usually lasts for only 1-3 seconds but it does it quite a lot and has done for at least a month now

My memory status is fine (pretty low atm but only until I burn some things to discs but I had the problem prior to low'ish memory)

Any cures?

Thanks!

ps, I also wasn't too sure where to post this so I hope this is the right place! If not just move it

Open Autoruns, click on "Logon" tab, and UN-check:

+ Acrobat Assistant
+ Adobe Acrobat Speed Launcher
+ iTunesHelper
+ SunJavaUpdateSched

QuickTime Task - you can kill it, but the very next time QT is used, that sucker will reinstall itself as a startup again.
The only way...
Download, and run QuickTime Killer: http://www.softpedia...me-Killer.shtml
After downloading, double click on EnGraphQuickTimeKillerInstaller.msi file.
You may be asked to download, and install .NET Framework
QuickTime Killer will remove QuickTime from start up and kill any running QuickTime processes. This application runs silently at start up and closes itself as soon as it takes care of QuickTime. QuickTime itself won't be removed from your computer, and will be available whenever needed.
NOTE. QuickTime is not a threat, but unnecessary startup, which can't be disabled in any other way.

When done restart computer and then:

Download Temp File Cleaner (TFC)
Double click on TFC.exe to run the program.
Click on Start button to begin cleaning process.
TFC will close all running programs, and it may ask you to restart computer.

Download Auslogics Defrag from the link in my signature below. Auslogics Defrag in my opinion is better because:
It does a more comprehensive job at Defragging
It will actually show you what it is doing
At the end of working it will show you how much speed you picked up
You can view a online log of the files that Auslogics defragged

Let me know how everything works now

Download and install Free Everest Home Edition
Open it.
1: In left pane expand Computer folder.
2: Click once on Summary
3: In upper menu, go Report
4: And then to Quick Report-Summary
5: Save it in text file, and paste it in your next post.
Click the + by computer, click on Sensor. Get a screenshot and post it so I can check your temps and voltages...

DO NOT INCLUDE ANYTHING UNDER THE LINE THAT SAYS "DEBUG- PCI"

Done the AutoRuns,
Couldn't do the Quicktime thing, I had the .NET Framework already installed, but when I tried to run the .msi it said I had to install the framework, so I reinstalled the Framework and it still told me I needed to install it so I gave up with that
Restarted
Completed TFC (I have 2 harddrives so I scanned both of them with it), didn't require restart
Completed Defrag, I agree with you that it is better because you can see what it's doing, I like to be able to see what is being scanned and edited and such

Still getting the freezes, got one only minutes after finishing the defrag (which decreased my fragmentation by 2.2%)

Here is a potential reason for the problem
C: (NTFS) 154272 MB (2492 MB free)
Problem Disk free space is only 2% on drive C:.

This low free space is probably affecting your MFT which in turn will cause several issues including the system not being able to boot.
MFT stands for Master File Table
What I would suggest is Uninstalling All Programs you don't need or don't want anymore through Add/Remove Programs

Do this by going to
Start and then to Control Panel
Click Add/Remove Programs
Carefully choose the program(s) you don't need
Click on each Program then click Change/Remove and Follow the Uninstall Instructions

You may be prompted to Restart your computer.
Restart once you have all the programs you don't need uninstalled.
Be careful not to remove anything needed by your computer, some of which you may be unfamiliar with the name,

Rerun Defrag when you are done and see how much space you actually pickup.
Let me know what the results are when completed and if there is any improvement

I don't think the low memory is due to a lot of programs installed, I think it will be because I have quite a few large videos files (a couple of GB each)
I tend to move this onto my other drive but hadn't got round to it so I will check my programs anyway, and I'll move some of the large files around then get back to you after another defrag

Thank you
Just out of curiosity did the problem start after adding large video files?
As i said the lack of drive space is potentially the cause of the problem.

I couldn't say to be honest, I'm not exactly sure when the problem began occuring but I've always downloaded large files and never really encountered a problem, unless I just downloaded too many one day and then this all begun. I really don't know

You need to get the drive up to at least 15% free so that OS and MFT can function correctly.
This will help us to make sure that variable is not causing the problem.

It's on 12.09% Fragmentation right now, is that not close enough to 15%?

EDIT: Just reran Defrag, and now it's decreased to 10.54% Fragmentation

You may need to backup some of those videos to clear out more space.
I realize this is frustrating but anything below that 12 to 15 percent range will cause issues.

I've put all of the large videos onto my E Drive, which has a Fragmentation of 0.0%, and with both of my Drives comebined I have just under 50% free?
