You should be able to toggle it between the HD, CD and floppy. Are you just using the arrows to toggle or are you trying page up/down?

There's usually 3 boot orders, set the 1st to cd if you can.

Tell me everything you have listed when you toggle between the choices.

Did you try it with atapi set as the 1st boot?

Assuming you are on the BOOT menu (use arrow keys to move the menu choices across the top), you can promote atapi by pressing the + key, or selecting the items above it and pressing the - key

however, you say that you are not listing the cd-rom in that list?

What about on the general section (first one you see when you first load BIOS.

What do you see there?

how did you connect the cd-rom to this motherboard...is it on the same cable as the harddrive, or different?

Are they both set properly (slave and master)

you did not answer that....on the general page -- MAIN -- what do you see. Under SECONDARY MASTER, it is AUTO, or CD? Select it, hit ENTER, change it to CD

you can try disabling ultradma, but leave pio mode,

If it says NONE under secondary master, which by your description was where you put it (a different ribbon cable from harddrive, connected to different ide controller and it was set as a master), then the drive is either defective or the cables are not properly secured.

Remove data and power cables, then reattach...make sure the number 1 wire alligns with the number 1 pin on the drie (though many cables are notched to prevent mistakes, maybe yours is not).

Check for bent pins

When I start my computer it starts up and ask if I want to run windows XP setup and I click on it and then it loads up and then it asks e to install windows XP and when I do that it comes up and says No CD-ROM device located. Or something like that. Does anyone know how to fix that?
