Could you turn the computer off please
Then turn the computer on whilst holding down the 0 (zero) key
Are you presented with an option to "restore to factory settings"

No. it goes to the screen where I have:
Microsft Windows Recovery Console
do not select this [debugger enabled]
Microsoft Windows XP Professinal
or hit F8 at this screen and I have:
Safe Mode
Safe Mode with Networking
Safe Mode with Command Prompt
Enable Boot Logging
Enable VGA Mode
Last Known Good Configuration (your most recent settings that worked)
Directory Services Restore Mode (Windows Domain Controllers only)
Debugging Mode
Disable automatic restart on system failure
Start Windows Normally
Reboot
Return to OS Choise Menu

Could you now reboot and press the F10 button please - I am trying to find a route to the system recovery options
Could you also investigate any Toshiba folders under your start menu ... The documentation on this is not to hot

I apologize for the late reply. F10 didn't work. I am checking the folders to see if I can find something but doesn't look promising.

I have just read through the entire manual and it is pretty worthless - I can give you a copy if you wish
Could you borrow a CD of the same flavour ?
IE XP SP3 Then first we will try SFC to check the file integrity and if that fails we will go for a repair install

An XP sp3 disc - as we will need to use that to repair any corrupted files (In the worst case SP2 will do )

I have an XP Professional SP2 disc that came with a dell laptop I got a few years ago. But this Toshiba is XP Tablet PC Edition SP3. Any thought where I can get what we need?
