Controller Support Issues With Battlefield 3 PC

I've recently downloaded BF3 for PC and my Xbox controller will not work with it, when I go to key mapping controller is unresponsive. Same problem for a PS3 controller with DS3 Tools. Does anyone have a fix?

sry for the delay, I had to catch up with my friends who use controllers for battlefield 3.

1: controller has to be plugged in to the pc and turned on (especially if its wireless) before you launch the game
2: if the above steps are followed the game will pick up the controller and your set to use it.
