OK lets check out the drivers

Download Slimdrivers to your desktop
Install the programme and on completion run
On the first page select Start Scan


Once it has completed click the download link on the right hand side (you can only download one driver at a time)


Allow the creation of a restore point prior to downloading and installing.
The driver will now be downloaded and backed up for safety. A reboot will be required on completion

Only select any drivers related to your network initially, or if you wish take a screenshot of the result and post it here before you proceed

oh dear...it stopped installing and says

slimdrivers set up wizard ended prematurely because of an error. Your system has not been modified. To install SlimDrivers at a latter time, run the set up wizard again.

There is also a slimdrivers box with a red and white cross that reads

the server name or address could not be resolved

okay got it working now...24 updates two network related...it is doing its thing and installing missing drivers. Will be back when it is done.

have done that and rebooted system and all seems to be fine. There are still 20 something drivers needing attention many of them system devices...do I need to update them all or will that not make a huge difference. I must admit I have no idea what they are for

Personally I update my drivers every 6 months or so using that tool. It does increase the stability of the system somewhat. At the end of the day the choice is yours, but on the plus side the old drivers are backed up and a restore point is made. So if it does not appear to work properly then you can roll back
