Hello all i would like some help upgrading my graphics card im looking to improve my game play and FPS, i mainly play modded minecraft i know kinda geeky but i really want to be able to play a game and watch a live stream but i cant do that, i suspect its because of the graphics card but im not fully sure. hear are my specs i hope you will be able to help me thanks. my computer is a HP Pavilion500

The only details I can find at the moment for your MB, > http://www.findlapto...specs-2ae0-msi/  Used in HP>Deel type computers.   It does have a PCI-e slot so will take a discrete GPU.

Always with such computer, the PSU supplied is just enough to power the system supplied, but usually leaves no excess power for parts upgrades.   It is likely to have a 300 watt PSU and that is not enough to power a decent card.

 

Please supply the exact model number of the computer and look at the PSU. note down the specs.

What would be your budget?

In which country would you purchase parts?

Beastbailey is actually a friend I sent here to get help (I had him install Speccy).

 

He is American, so he will buy any parts in America. The system Model is an HP Pavilion 500 (I think). I will follow up on that using dxdiag, as that gives an exact Name/Model.

iammykl ok so my model is 500-046   and my budget is between $100-$250 maybe $300 and i live in america, and thanks for coming to help alan1998 nice to talk again.

You have a 300W Power Supply, which is extremely limiting. My 480W power supply is technically "Underrated" for my Dsicrete GPU (GTX 760) which requires 500Watts.

 

I don't think (Iammykyl correct me if I'm wrong) there is a card on the market that'll run at 300 Watts that'll offer a decent Frame Rate Improvement to be worth while.

The GTX 750 ti is worth investighatinf.   The reference and many factory enhance only draw 75 Watts from the PCI-e 16 slot and performance is a big increase on the AMD HD 7660D

You will need to find performance results for your choosen game/s but given the above, the 750 ti looks a good candidate.

Any card not requiring additional poweris fine.  I could not find any reports of total system draw going over 220 watts.

ok so what i want is a graphics card that will go to the highest performance that will run with my computer im thinking that i should get the 750 Ti but idk if that's the highest performing one

Gday.

The GTX 750 ti, that does not require an additional power feed, is the best performing GPU that your current system will support.   If you want a more powerful one, you will need a more powerful PSU.

The 750ti is one step down in the 700 series from my card. My card will run BF4 Max settings @ 60 FPS.

 

If you (wanted) my card (The 760), you'd require a 500W PSU.

 

A decent 500-550W PSU goes for about $100. The 760 is about $175 (For my edition).

 

As it is, the 750TI, offers much better performance then your current card.
