Just downloaded windows Vista Business onto my HP Z800 workstation which I plan on using for AutoCad / other engineering software. I have 48GB of RAM, four 2 TB hard drives. Whenever I restart or turn the computer on my Bios takes like 2 mins+ there is a lot of installing being done and it searches for the windows but finally finds it on the hard drive. Why is this and how can I fix it? I will try to upload a video on the next post.

Hi Z800 user, and welcome to our forums
Sorry to hear of the delay problems you are experiencing.
1 Please let us have the URL of the site from which you downloaded the Vista Business
2 Are you using Vista 32 bit or 64 bit?
3 Vista is a relatively old operating system now, and is coming up to the end of its life in so far as security patches and the like are concerned... with such a short time span left to it, are you sure you want to try using it for autocad and other engineering software?
4 48Gb of RAM is a "hefty" amount.... have you checked the RAM is that spec originally installed by the manufacturer?
5 8Tb of hard drive capacity is also "quite hefty" for a machine still running Vista... what Power Supply Unit have you installed? the original bronze or silver? or has it been replaced?
6 Have you reset the BIOS at any time?
7 Have you tried booting just with the one single boot drive installed ( assuming you are not running a RAID) and making sure boot priority is set accordingly?...
8 Are all Vista critical/important updates installed and up to date?
9 Have you got some good disc images created before the last install and when the computer was booting fast and sweet and with no problems?
10 If yes to 9, have you tried re imaging?
Post back with all the above, together with the specs (speccy by piriform is good) for your particular set up and we will do our best to help
Regards
