Hi, I'm not really a gamer, but interested in playing From the Depths from Steam. My PC is kinda old so I checked out https://www.systemre...he-depths/12802to see if I could run this game. It said everything was good except my video card...I only have v 4.0 for "Pixel Shader" and "Vertex Shader" and the game requires v 5.0. I don't really have too much of an appetite for upgrading my video card because I hardly ever play games, haven't in years. But I decided to take the risk anyways and purchase the game and see if works. It ended up being *really* slow and laggy, basically unplayable. I did go into the game settings and changed the video settings and tired to reduce it down to the most basic settings to increase performance which it did slightly but not too much.
I'm wondering if:
- This could be reasonably assumed to be because of the Pixel & Vertex shading or something else (e.g. I don't want to spend $200+ dollars on a new graphics card and find out it was actually something else)
- Are there options to explore to get the game to work w/o upgrading the graphics card (e.g. game or system settings?) and
- What are my graphics card options? (budget is probably ~$200, max $250-300) but like I said I'm pretty lukewarm at best about this option, I just don't really have the time to play games hardly ever.
