The only thing I can suggest now is to reset the BIOS to default.  Before you do that, go through and write down every option so that if it doesn't want to boot you can return things back to the way it was.

Another possibility:  Perhaps the power supply has been damaged by the bad battery sucking too much current and is now not providing enough power.  Do you know anyone with a Dell Laptop who would let you either borrow their power adapter or would be willing to try yours on their laptop?

I do not know anyone who would have such a power supply.

I will ask my friends and let you know when I find something.

I went back to the BIOS settings that were before the reset to default settings.

And there is a difference, a positive one.

- turned off: CPU XD SUPPORT

- enabled: Intel SpeedStep

 

 

 

But I went back to setting the BIOS of the original one we were working on.

Does the Dell power adapter have a center pin in the connector that plus into the Laptop?  Some HP laptops had the center pin and if it broke the laptop would still work but would be super slow.

And as for the power supply socket, I do not know what to say, although it may also be worn out during so many years of its work.

 

Then I have to obtain an additional power supply and replace the power socket.

However, at present I do not have the means due to my illness. If I organize something, I will let you know and unfortunately it must remain as it is.
