What can be done to remedy a situation in which somebody gains access to your file sync service and then deletes all your files? I am wondering about only the following major providers: OneDrive, iCloud Drive, Google Drive, and Dropbox. Do any of them have recovery methods? Would be nice to have a reference point on Google for this situation for all these major providers. I am IT specialist and have a million clients who back up their data using one of these services instead of a true cloud backup. Thanks!

Hi,
Most of those services will keep the deleted data for some time but it will depend on the type of account! if provided by a School or Work the service Admin can restore the deleted data and its possible to adjust the data retention time.

Like anything they all have some type of a system where they back up that data. Eventually the backup gets backed up again which means it could be lost.

Thanks guys.. finally got around to researching this... It looks like all the aforementioned cloud sync services allow file restoration up to 30 days after file deletion and possibly more for enterprise users. Also when files are permanently deleted by emptying the trash or permanently deleting individual files restoration is not possible except for Google Workspace where admins can recover permanently deleted files within 25 days.
