Hello! I'm not sure if this is the right section of this forum. Anyway, I am running Windows 11. When I insert a flash drive to backup pictures, it does take it. BUT, later on I go to the flash drive and the pictures have disappeared. It says the folder is empty. Am I doing something wrong? Thanks!

What process are you using to transfer the files? Copy/Paste?

Thanks for the reply. Yes, Copy and paste. Usually works. But...

Hi.
Is the USB drive a new one? Does it have other things saved in it? If yes, is the issue occurs only with the specific pictures?
If the USB has no other things in it:
Go to This PC, right click on the USB drive and choose Properties. Check the capacity of the drive. Does it look empty or not?

Well, USB drive is fairly new. It's a 1 TB flash drive. It does have a few other things on the drive. but nothing that brings it near capacity. Before I replied, I did another test. I copied and pasted 2 folders with different .jpg's in them. Came back some time later and opened both folders and all of the pictures had disappeared.

Just for clarity:
You copy/paste which starts the transfer process. You see somthing similar to this?
Then you walk away? Do you see actual files populating the drive and then walk away?
I think something is intterupting the file transfer and nothing is actually getting transfered.

Hi.
You said that there are a few other items in the drive. When you open the drive, you can see these few items? Only the jpg files are missing?
Please take a screenshot of the content of your drive.

A quick note. Although previously the .jpg have disappeared, I did other testing. Two that I moved some-what disappeared. But, this time these stated that "it looks like we don't support this file type." This is the first time this has appeared. Apparently this is the reason. Is there a way to change this to support .jpg? Thanks!

Can you move the files to any other drive without issue?

I tried to use Snipping Tool and move the shot to the reply but it wouldn't take it. Is there another way?
Yes, I moved one of the .jpg's to my C drive and it took it. Just won't go to the flash drive. It'll take it and actually show when I click on it. But, again, when I close out and come back later it's gone.

Seems to me that those files got corrupted somehow. Can you open then when they are in C?

Yes, they open fine in C. The same files disappears when moved to the flash drive. Strange! BTW, as long as I do not close the flash drive the pics will open. It's just when I close it and come back later, the pics are gone.
