Test also a different USB drive.
Will do.

BTW, as long as I do not close the flash drive the pics will open. It's just when I close it and come back later, the pics are gone.
Hmmm, this sounds like the USB is setup as ReadyBoost.

A flash drive can be used to speed up a PC by using ReadyBoost. Here's how:
- Plug in the drive
- Open File Explorer and click This PC
- Right-click the flash drive and select Properties
- Click the ReadyBoost tab
- Turn on ReadyBoost
- Select whether to use the flash drive as a cache and choose a cache size
- Select Dedicate this device to ReadyBoost
- Click Apply and then OK

I do not have a Readyboost tab.
Ok, thanks for checking.
Did you test a different USB drive?

Did you test a different USB drive?
Yes, I tried different USB drives. I just moved 1 pic at a time. It stayed there for a short period of time (1-2 hours) then it disappeared.

The files dissapeared on the different USB also? Did you unplug the drive and plug it back in?
You copy/pasted 1 pic to the different USB, left the drive in the PC, did not turn the PC off, and the pic after 1-2 hours dissapears without any messages?
These different USB drives, did you buy them at the same time and from the same place? Did you buy them online?
I'm asking all these questions for clarity, so I know exactly whats going on as to be able to help you the best way possible. One answer makes me want to go one direction andother answer might make me go a different direction.

I think you may be on to something. I used 2 flash drive that appeared to be the same. Both of these the pics disappeared after a short period of time. I bought a different looking flash drive (also 1 TB) and tested this one and the pictures have not disappeared. So, apparently, those original flash drives I had been using are bad. Not sure how but I guess they are. I'll still keep an eye on the new flash drive. But so far so good. Thanks for your time and effort!
There are a ton of "fake" USB drives on the market. They will advertise as 128GB but will only be 4GB or 16 GB and only be 4GB(not limited to these numbers I'm only using it as an example).
I read somewhere they install a function on the firmware that deletes files that go above the lower limit, I guess in hopes to dupe the user.

I like to stay with the 1TB because I use most for backups. Can you advise on what to look for as for as what's the good ones? Maybe certain brands you can suggest?
I get mine from Amazon. Just look for the major brands, Sandisk, Lexor, kingston, etc.
I use Sandisk and have years of good luck with them.
Keep the rule of thumb handy in your mind "If the price seems too good to be true, it probably isn't".
Compare other drives size to price ratio. For instance, if you see the majority of 1TB drives at $60-$120 and you find a 1TB for $30 its more than likely fake.

I'll try and keep on the higher end flash drives. Again, thanks for your help!
